Jaj Mankelow is a Senior Lecturer in Rehabilitation Science at Teesside University, affiliated with the School of Health and Life Sciences (SHLS) Allied Health Professions and the Centre for Rehabilitation. She holds a PhD from Teesside University (2021), an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (2015) from the same institution, and a Bachelor's in Physiotherapy from King's College London (2004).
Research Interests:
Her work focuses on pain management strategies, particularly leveraging virtual reality (VR) to enhance health literacy and self-management for chronic pain. She also explores pain education in healthcare settings and investigates the role of healthcare professionals in pain management. Her recent studies include evaluating VR applications in primary care and physiotherapy, assessing pain beliefs in high school settings, and analyzing emergency department utilization for back pain.
