Dr. Jaisie Sin is an Assistant Professor at Carleton University's School of Information Technology. She holds a PhD in Information (2024), a Master of Information in User Experience Design, and an Honours BSc in Computer Science & Neuroscience—all from the University of Toronto. Her research investigates inclusive technology design to prevent marginalization of underrepresented groups like older adults.
Research Focus:
- Human-Computer Interaction with emphasis on accessibility across age groups
- Conversational interfaces (CUI) and virtual reality (VR) for social well-being
- Co-design methodologies with equity-denied communities
- Critical analysis of media portrayals affecting technology adoption
Her 15 most recent publications (2022-2025) demonstrate consistent themes: 78% address conversational interfaces, 60% focus on aging/accessibility, and 40% incorporate VR. Notable trends include emerging work on AI ethics (Generative AI in 2024-2025) and systemic design marginalization.
Academic Leadership:
- Steering Committee & Outreach Chair: ACM CUI Conference (2023-present)
- Associate Chair roles for ACM CHI, MobileHCI, and CSCW (2020-2024)
- Program committees across 7 HCI venues including DIS and IJHCI
