Jairus Grove

Jairus Grove is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where he has been a faculty member since 2011. He serves as the director of the Hawai’i Research Center for Futures Studies, contributing to interdisciplinary research on global political futures. His academic work bridges political theory, international relations, and futuristics.

His research focuses on the expanding ecology of global warfare, examining how war increasingly incorporates new technologies, actors, and systems. He explores theoretical frameworks such as systems theory, cybernetics, and complexity theory, and investigates how new media reshape global political engagement. His teaching spans political science, political thought, and future-oriented political design.

Jairus Grove received the Peter V. Garrod Distinguished Graduate Mentoring Award in 2020, recognizing his excellence in mentoring graduate students. He is also co-editor of The Contemporary Condition with William E. Connolly, reflecting his engagement with contemporary political theory and discourse.

He advises graduate students and leads research initiatives through the Hawai’i Research Center for Futures Studies.
