Associate Professor Jaime Jones (University College Dublin) specializes in ethnomusicology with expertise in popular music, global soundscapes, Indian music, and music and religion. After piano/composition training in New York/Chicago, she earned a PhD at the University of Chicago (2009) focusing on Performing the Sacred: Song, Genre, and Aesthetics in Bhakti via Fulbright-funded fieldwork in India. Her research spans DIY underground music scenes, digital culture, and translocal popular music, including the forthcoming monograph Underground Worlds: Place, Intimacy, and Remediation in Dublin’s DIY Scene.

- Co-founder of Dublin Gamelan Orchestra (National Concert Hall of Ireland resident ensemble)
- International Council for Traditional Music, Ireland Chair (2011-2014)
Recent grants include €320,000 across initiatives like Musicking Encounters and Pathways to Inclusion (asylum seekers) and Improvising Across Boundaries (gender-minority musicians). She directs the 2-year UCD Teaching and Academic Development Fellowship (2024) exploring curriculum integration of employability skills.
Key publications examine digital pilgrimage, underground music as transculture, and cosmopolitan music-making. Awards include Fulbright Fellowship (2004-05), Aurora Leadership Program (2016-17), and multiple UCD research grants.
