Jaime Goodrich is Chair and Professor of English at Wayne State University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Director of the Humanities Center. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Boston College (2008) and a B.A. in Classics and English from Smith College (2001), with additional certificates in Humanities Advocacy Leadership (2023) and Humanities Impact Documentation (2024). Her work focuses on recovering marginalized early modern women’s writings, particularly Catholic authors and monastic communities. She has published two monographs, over two dozen articles/chapters, and edited volumes like Writings of a Well-Learned Gentlewoman. Current projects include editions of Brussels Benedictines' documents and Poor Clare poet Catherine Magdalen Evelyn's works, alongside a new monograph on archival theory.
Her research integrates historiography with philosophical frameworks, addressing topics like translation politics, conventual literary networks, and gendered authorship. Awards include a Fulbright Scholarship (2013-14), NEH grants, and Wayne State's President’s Excellence in Teaching Award (2012). She collaborates widely, co-editing Criticism's special issue on early modern women writers (2021). Teaching focuses on Shakespeare and early modern literature, with courses like ENG5150 and ENG2200.
Goodrich’s work bridges textual criticism and contemporary relevance, challenging canonical boundaries through interdisciplinary methods. She actively promotes humanities advocacy and leads initiatives like the Learning Community Award (2018-21). Ongoing projects emphasize collaboration, digital tools, and expanding early modern literary histories to include women’s intellectual contributions.
