Jaime Garau Amengual is a Professor of Spanish Philology at the University of the Balearic Islands, specializing in Spanish Golden Age literature. He serves as Director and Principal Investigator of the Institute of Hispanic Studies in Modernity (IEHM) and its Associated R&D&I Unit with the Higher Council for Scientific Research.
His research interests include:
- Spanish Golden Age literature, particularly prose and theater
- Sacred Preaching and Humanism in the Golden Age
- Critical editions of works by Tirso de Molina, Torres Villarroel, and Bartolomé Jiménez Patón
- Literary analysis and criticism of Spanish literature from the Golden Age
- Religious ideas in Spanish literature of the period
Professor Garau Amengual has directed multiple competitive R&D&I projects and has been a visiting professor at various universities across Europe and America. He is a member of the CELES research group at the University of Poitiers and an associate member of GRISO at the University of Navarra.
His teaching portfolio includes:
- Spanish Literature of the Golden Age: Prose (Bachelor's Degree in Catalan and Spanish Language and Literature)
- Sacred Preaching and Humanism in the Golden Age (Master's Degree in Modern Languages and Literature)
