Victor Roncero-López is a Distinguished Professor of Spanish Golden Age Literature at Stony Brook University, where he has taught for over two decades. He previously held positions at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) and High Point University in North Carolina. His research focuses on humanist issues, historiography, the Picaresque novel, Petrarchist poetry, Bufoonesque literature, and Autos Sacramentales. He has edited works from medieval Cancionero poetry to studies on Quevedo and Calderón. Roncero-López is a member of GRISO, a Golden Age research team, and serves as General Editor and Founder of La Perinola: Revista de Investigación Quevediana. He has also directed the editorial board of the Colección Batihoja.
His academic contributions include groundbreaking studies on Quevedo's historiography and humanism in 16th- and 17th-century Europe. He frequently teaches summer courses in European universities and has published extensively on Golden Age literature, including critical editions of plays by Lope de Vega, Tirso de Molina, and Calderón. His recent work examines themes of power, religion, and satire in Spanish Golden Age theater and poetry.
Recent publications (2020–2025) highlight his expertise in metatheatrical analysis, political satire, and interdisciplinary approaches to Golden Age texts. His work often bridges philological rigor with cultural and historical contextualization. He has also contributed to anthologies and critical editions that reshape understanding of lesser-known works from the period.
