Jahn Petter Johnsen

Jahn Petter Johnsen is a Professor at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, affiliated with The Norwegian College of Fishery Science. His work centers on marine governance, fisheries and aquaculture management, and the socio-economic development of coastal communities. He plays a key role in academic leadership as Coordinator of the Fisheries and Aquaculture study programme (2019–2021) and is recognized as a Meritted Educator at UiT.

Thematic trends include policy innovation, co-management, path dependence, and the integration of social science perspectives into marine management.

Johnsen is actively involved in academic mentoring, having supervised 6 completed PhDs and 55 MA theses, with 4 PhD students currently under supervision. These projects explore aquaculture controversies, labor dynamics, and sustainable regional development.

He is a core member of the MARA research group and contributes to interdisciplinary teams working on marine resource governance.
