Dr. Jagan Selvaraj is a Lecturer in Composites Engineering at the James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, and a member of the Materials and Manufacturing Research Group (MMRG). His research focuses on data-driven and physics-based modeling of composites for mechanical performance, with emphasis on impact loading, fracture, damage mechanics, and process modeling.
- Education: PhD in Advanced Composites (Aerospace Engineering) from University of Bristol (2022), MEng in Structural Engineering from IIT Kharagpur (2014)
Jagan's work investigates:
- Efficient data-driven methods for composite damage analysis in large structures
- Process simulation to minimize manufacturing defects and enhance automation
- Consolidation effects on structural mechanics
- Model-order reduction and machine learning techniques
Scientific awards:
- EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship (2022-2024)
- EPSRC IAA grant (2024)
He leads grants totaling £95,000 and seeks PhD students for research on:
- Multiscale modeling of composite damage mechanisms
- Process modeling for automated fiber placement optimization
