Dr Jade Dignam is a Research Fellow at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, The University of Queensland, and an affiliate of the Queensland Aphasia Research Centre (QARC). Her research focuses on aphasia rehabilitation, stroke recovery, and evidence-based speech pathology.
- Education: Bachelor (Honours) and PhD from The University of Queensland.
Dr Dignam investigates intensive aphasia therapy models, including CHAT (Comprehensive High-Dose Aphasia Treatment) and TeleCHAT (telerehabilitation adaptation), emphasizing clinical implementation, technology integration, and dose optimization. She develops tools like the Aphasia Therapy Finder to improve resource accessibility for speech pathologists.
Her funding includes grants from the NHMRC, National Stroke Foundation, and The Bowness Family Foundation for projects on aphasia treatment translation, SMS intervention design, and program implementation. She supervises PhD students on CHAT program adaptations and clinical planning.
Dr Dignam collaborates with teams at QARC and integrates cognitive neuroscience principles into aphasia therapy, focusing on predictors of treatment response and long-term maintenance strategies.
