Jacqueline Thomas

Jacqueline Thomas is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of West Florida, specializing in Family Nurse Practitioner education. She holds a DNP from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, an MSN from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and a BSN from the University of North Alabama.

Her clinical expertise focuses on chronic conditions such as HIV, hypertension, and diabetes, with a scholarly project addressing cervical cancer screening improvements for HIV-positive women through peer mentorship. She has 23+ years of clinical experience in rural community health centers, private practice, and public health settings, including roles as a clinical administrator, health services administrator, and operations officer for a county health department’s clinical division.

Dr. Thomas has also served as a process leader for health disparities collaboratives, quality improvement manager, certified diabetes educator, and co-founder of a community health service organization. Her work emphasizes patient education, community outreach, and reducing health disparities.
