Jacqueline O'Leary

Jacqueline O'Leary, M.D., M.P.H., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of the Division of Digestive and Liver Diseases. She serves as Chief of Hepatology at the North Texas VA Health Care System in Dallas. Her academic career includes roles as a clinician, researcher, and educator in hepatology and transplant medicine.

Dr. O'Leary earned a bachelor's degree in biological sciences (Stanford University), an M.D. (UCSF), and an M.P.H. (Harvard). She completed residency in internal medicine at UT Southwestern, followed by gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital, and postdoctoral research at Harvard Medical School's Center for Blood Research.

Her research focuses on liver transplantation outcomes, donor health, and simultaneous liver-kidney transplants. Notable contributions include clinical trials, international lectures, and peer-reviewed publications analyzing microbiota roles in cirrhosis, biomarkers for acute-on-chronic liver failure, and antibody-mediated rejection in transplants.
