Dr. Jacqueline Marjorie Burgette is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, holding dual appointments in the Departments of Dental Public Health and Pediatric Dentistry. She is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a research fellow at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her work focuses on reducing oral health disparities in children, particularly through examining social networks' impact on dental care utilization and oral health outcomes.
Dr. Burgette earned her DMD from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, followed by a pediatric dentistry certificate and PhD in Health Policy and Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research has been supported by prestigious awards, including the Ruth L. Kirschstein Fellowship and the Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program. In 2022-2023, she served as a White House Fellow.
Her research investigates how maternal social networks influence children’s oral health behaviors and access to care, with a focus on marginalized populations such as Appalachian communities and families in supportive housing. She has published widely in journals like the Journal of the American Dental Association and the American Journal of Public Health. Dr. Burgette also actively contributes to policy discussions on oral health equity and interprofessional education.
