University of Newcastle Australia (UON)معرفی
Dr. Jacqueline Iredale is a Post Doctoral Researcher in the Behavioural Neuroscience Group at the University of Newcastle's School of Biomedical Sciences and Pharmacy, College of Health, Medicine and Wellbeing. She also holds Casual Academic and Casual ISSP Tutor positions at the university.
Her educational background includes:
- Doctor of Philosophy in Human Physiology, University of Newcastle
- Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Hons), University of Newcastle
Dr. Iredale's research focuses on understanding neural mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders including depression, substance use disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, and Tourette's syndrome. Her work spans two main projects: investigating therapeutic mechanisms of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for neuropsychiatric disorders, and examining stress effects on brain regions using in vivo calcium imaging. Previously, her PhD research developed preclinical pain models to better understand pain processing and evaluate analgesics, including industry collaboration on novel cannabinoid compounds.
Her publications demonstrate expertise across neuroscience, with particular emphasis on pain pathways, neural circuits, and neuromodulation techniques. Recent work shows increasing focus on translational applications of neuroscience research for treating psychiatric and pain disorders.
Dr. Iredale has received several notable awards:
- 2023: IBRO-SfN Travel Award from the International Brain Research Organization
- 2022: College Kindness Award - Anatomy Demonstrating from University of Newcastle
- 2022: Australian Pain Society PhD Student Travel Award
She currently co-supervises two PhD students working on "Resetting Hypothalamic circuits to Treat Depression" and "Developing Therapeutic Options for Chronic Pelvic Pain." Dr. Iredale has secured over $88,000 in grant funding for 2023, including equipment grants and travel fellowships that support her research on TMS and preclinical pain models.
Dr. Iredale works within the Behavioural Neuroscience Group led by Dr. Lizzie Manning, Dr. Erin Campbell, and Prof. Christopher Dayas, as well as the Preclinical Neurobiology Group where she contributes to research on neural mechanisms of pain and neuropsychiatric disorders.
