Dr. Jacquelin Koch is an Adjunct Professor at Hope College, affiliated with the Departments of Physics and Geological and Environmental Sciences since 2006. She specializes in atmospheric science, aerosol-climate interactions, and online teaching pedagogy.
- Education: Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science (University of Michigan, 2006), M.S. in Atmospheric and Space Science (University of Michigan, 2003), B.S. in Chemical Engineering (Michigan Tech, 1995).
Her research focuses on atmospheric aerosols, particularly dust devil contributions to global climate budgets, and innovative online teaching methods for non-science majors. She has also explored convective-radiative feedback mechanisms and developed at-home laboratory curricula.
Recent publications span physics education, climate action strategies, and atmospheric dynamics, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach. She previously taught in the Department of Chemistry and brings industry experience from roles as a power plant design engineer, cereal industry chemical engineer, and Nabisco quality control specialist.
- Scientific Awards:
- Michigan Space Grant Consortium Research Seed Grant (2012)
- Michigan Space Grant Consortium Outreach Award (2007)
Dr. Koch actively participates in public health studies (e.g., atmospheric mercury testing) and founded the Hope Creative Science Initiative Outreach Program. She collaborates on climate research while mentoring students through online physics laboratories and community engagement.
