Jacob Shatzer serves as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Union University, alongside his role as Associate Professor of Theological Studies. He earned his BA from Union University, MDiv from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and PhD in religious studies from Marquette University. His research focuses on theological ethics, transhumanism, and integrating faith with learning. He has authored books such as Biblical Ethics and Faithful Learning. Dr. Shatzer previously taught at Sterling College and Palm Beach Atlantic University before joining Union in 2017, where he held roles including Associate Dean of Theology & Missions and Associate Provost. He actively participates in campus life through chapel services and academic leadership. He resides in Jackson, Tennessee, with his family.
