Dr. Jacob D. Richter (he-him) is a Teaching Professor of Writing at George Washington University (GW) in Washington, D.C., affiliated with the University Writing Program within the Columbian College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a PhD in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design (RCID) from Clemson University, where he previously served as Assistant Director of First Year Composition. His research focuses on composition pedagogy, technical communication, digital rhetoric, and social media’s role in education, with publications in journals such as College Composition and Communication, Computers & Composition, and Convergence.
Richter’s current work investigates digital civil disobedience on social media and strategies for teaching democracy, election literacy, and social advocacy in technical communication courses. He teaches courses like UW 1020: 'Writing Democracy: Professional Writing’s Utility for Democracy and Social Justice,' and contributes to the More Than Memos YouTube channel.
He has presented at conferences including the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), Computers & Writing, and the Rhetoric Society of America. Richter’s interdisciplinary background bridges rhetorical theory, digital media, and pedagogical innovation.
