Erin Clark is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at East Carolina University. A specialist in technical communication, rhetoric, and composition, she integrates her prior investigative journalism experience into teaching undergraduate and graduate courses such as Risk Communication, Rhetorics of Health and Medicine, and Digital Writing. Her research examines gender and feminism in technical communication, particularly in health/medicine, environmental rhetorics, and risk communication.

Clark's scholarly work bridges feminist theory with practical applications in technical communication. She explores how medical imaging technologies shape gendered consent narratives and analyzes reproductive justice discourse in civic contexts. Her research also investigates cookbook rhetorics as sites of contested gender norms and monolithic constructions of womanhood.
Her publications include co-edited special issues like Interrogating Gendered Pathologies (2020) and The Rhetoric of Health and Medicine (2015), alongside peer-reviewed articles in Technical Communication Quarterly and Journal of Business and Technical Communication. She received the 2015 CCCC Outstanding Dissertation Award in Technical Communication.
