Jacob Cooper is an Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Nebraska at Kearney specializing in ornithology, biogeography, and evolutionary ecology. His research examines avian diversity patterns across ecosystems, with field studies spanning Central Africa, Costa Rica, and North America. Cooper's publications investigate niche divergence, climate refugia, and community biogeography using morphological, ecological, and distributional datasets.
Recent work includes analyzing age ratios in African ant-following birds and testing niche divergence hypotheses in Neotropical bird lineages. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and participates in professional societies including the American Ornithological Society and Nebraska Ornithologists' Union.
