Jackie Bruce, PhD, is a Professor and Undergraduate Coordinator in the Department of Agricultural & Human Sciences at North Carolina State University (NC State). She serves as Co-Director of The Oaks Leadership Scholars Program and Interim Director of Student Success in the CALS Academic Programs Office. Her roles include teaching leadership development and qualitative research methods, advising students, and advocating for inclusive communities. She is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Leadership Education and actively involved in initiatives like New Beginnings for Tribal Students.
- Education: BS in Political Science (Colorado State University), MS in Agricultural and Extension Education (Colorado State University), PhD in Agricultural Education with a Leadership Emphasis (Texas A&M University).
Research focuses on transformative leadership for justice, trauma-informed pedagogy, and organizational behavior. She has authored/co-authored books and peer-reviewed articles on advocacy, activism, and leadership education. Her grants include projects addressing mental health in agriculture and international food security.
- Awards: Distinguished Teaching Award (2016), Distinguished Leadership & Service Award (2015), NACTA Educator Award (2015).
Grants include the Southeast Center for Agricultural Health (mental health counseling for producers) and international programs enhancing global food security education. She also led the Wolfpack Leadership Academy to train extension agents in leadership.
