Jacki Armit is an Associate Professor of Costume Technology at Florida State University's School of Theatre. She holds an M.F.A. in Costume Technology from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a B.A. from Louisiana Tech University.
Her professional costume work includes productions at The Denver Center, Utah Shakespeare Festival, and Alley Theatre. As a Certified Teacher with The Society of American Fight Directors, she has choreographed fights for Georgia Shakespeare and taught stage combat at institutions nationwide.
Research Focus: Historical clothing construction methods and patterning techniques. Teaching areas include:
- Draping and flat patterning
- Historical patterning reconstruction
- Menswear tailoring
- Millinery design
Notable creative works include draping for The Merchant of Venice (Utah Shakespeare Festival) and The Who's Tommy (Denver Center).
