Robinson’s research interrogates the intersection of design and social equity, emphasizing the role of architecture in amplifying minority voices. He draws inspiration from the Black and Brown LGBTQIA+ ballroom community, using performative frameworks to challenge traditional design paradigms. His work prioritizes collaborative and cooperative design processes to restore and empower marginalized spaces.
As a Black queer male, Robinson’s personal and professional identity is deeply influenced by the ballroom community, which nurtured him during his teenage years. While no scientific awards or publications are listed in the provided text, his focus on community-driven design and minority representation highlights his commitment to transformative, inclusive practices.
He is affiliated with the Apparel Design Faculty at RISD, where he teaches and explores how interdisciplinary design can critique and reshape societal structures. His email contact is jrobin02@risd.edu.
