Jack Madden is an astrophysicist at Cornell University's Department of Astronomy and a Master of Fine Arts candidate at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). As a researcher at the Carl Sagan Institute, he explores exoplanet habitability through climate modeling and surface-albedo interactions, while also pioneering the use of virtual reality (VR) in physics education. His interdisciplinary work bridges astrophysics with art, focusing on humanizing scientific understanding through research-based art.
- Education: B.A. in Astrophysics (Franklin and Marshall College, 2014), Ph.D. in Astrophysics (Cornell University, 2020), MFA in Digital + Media (RISD, current).
His research examines how planetary surfaces influence habitability, with key publications including 1D climate models and VR applications in education. He has collaborated with renowned scientists like Lisa Kaltenegger and Natasha Holmes. While no awards or students are explicitly listed, his work spans exoplanet spectroscopy, Earth-like climate modeling, and science communication through art.
