Jack Crangle is a Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast's School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics. His research focuses on social history of modern Britain and Ireland, particularly migrants' and minority communities' experiences in the 20th century, using oral history to explore identity and belonging. He has published widely in journals like Immigrants and Minorities and authored a monograph on ethnic diversity in Northern Ireland. He teaches undergraduate modules including 'Thatcher's Britain' and contributes to public lectures and media engagements on migration topics. Crangle holds a Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship (2022).
His work addresses themes of Britishness and Irishness through oral histories, examining how minority groups navigate national identities. Recent activities include keynote lectures on migration in divided societies and participation in academic conferences.
