Dr. Jack C Rusley is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Health Services, Policy, and Practice at Brown University's School of Public Health, and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Brown's Alpert Medical School. He holds dual roles as a clinician educator and researcher, specializing in adolescent medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. His work focuses on HIV prevention, LGBTQ+ health, and family-based interventions for sexual and gender minority youth. Dr. Rusley also serves as Director of Research for the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital.
Education: MD from Alpert Medical School (2010), MHS from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (2016), BA from Brown University (2003). Postgraduate training includes an Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency (Maine Medical Center, 2014) and Adolescent Medicine fellowship (Johns Hopkins University, 2017).
Research interests include adolescent health equity, PrEP implementation for marginalized populations, and healthcare transition programs for youth with chronic illnesses. He has led NIH-funded studies such as the Prepping for The Talk family intervention project and developed a national PrEP Toolkit for youth-serving providers.
Awards: 2023 Racial Justice Award from the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine. Grants include NIH K23 career development awards and institutional funding for digital health interventions.
Clinical work involves adolescent primary care (ages 12-26) and specialty services like PrEP provision, LGBTQ+ care, and STD management. He consults for national advocacy committees and collaborates with researchers across pediatrics, public health, and psychiatry.
