Jack Avery is an honorary Research Fellow at the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Warwick. His work focuses on seventeenth-century interdisciplinary connections between news media and literary production, primarily examining England and the Low Countries.
His research spans Seventeenth Century Literature, Anglo-Dutch Cultural Exchange, and Early Modern Intellectual History, with specific expertise in satire, propaganda, correspondence networks, and maritime writings. Current projects include editing John Aubrey's correspondence with William Poole of New College, Oxford.
Avery's publication trends reveal deep engagement with Anglo-Dutch War-era media (1665-1674), Newtonian manuscript studies, and Restoration-era political communication. His work consistently bridges literary analysis with historical context, particularly examining how newsbooks shaped public discourse during constitutional crises.
He actively collaborates with Oxford institutions including New College, evidenced by his Newton manuscript research and forthcoming monograph with Oxford University Press. His editorial work on Aubrey's correspondence represents significant contribution to early modern biographical scholarship.
