Prof. Jaap Boter is an Associate Professor at the Department of Marketing, School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds the Royal Booksellers Association chair at the University of Amsterdam. With a background in Musicology (MA, Utrecht University), he transitioned to marketing research, focusing on geodemographics, retail innovation, and GIS applications. His work bridges cultural economics, logistics, and spatial data analysis.
Education: MA in Musicology (Utrecht University), PhD in Marketing (VU Amsterdam). Research highlights include the Geomarketing Knowledge Center and studies on urban energy transitions, healthcare markets, and film distribution history. He teaches GeoMarketing and leads the MSc Marketing program.
