Jaap Bellingwout is a Full Professor of Tax Law and Head of the Department of Notarial and Tax Law at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds dual roles as an attorney and tax advisor at KPMG Meijburg & Co., advising multinational corporations, and serves as a member of the Commission on Company Law (Den Haag) since 2015. His academic qualifications include a Master's in Dutch Law and Tax Law from Leiden University and a PhD from Radboud University on 'Legal and Tax Aspects of Company Migration in the EU.'
Research focuses on intersections of tax and corporate law, including cross-border corporate migrations, EU tax directives, and harmful tax competition. Notable publications include analyses of corporate relocations, EU tax frameworks, and global enterprise taxation. He has advised on tax reforms in Aruba and participated in OECD negotiations.
Recognized with the 2015 Global Awards by Corporate Livewire in Tax Netherlands. Engaged in professional activities such as lectures on tax treaties, expert meetings on business taxation frameworks (BEFIT), and contributions to parliamentary hearings on anti-tax avoidance legislation.
