JULIO CESAR SOUSA FERNANDEZ

JULIO CESAR SOUSA FERNANDEZ is a Full Professor at the Department of Galician Philology, Faculty of Philology, University of Santiago de Compostela. He is affiliated with the Galician Language Institute (ILG) and part of the FILGA research group (Galician Philology and Linguistics). His doctoral thesis (1998) focused on diachronic analysis of verb constructions in Galician, supervised by Dr. Rosario Álvarez Blanco.

Research interests center on Galician dialectology, historical linguistics, and geolinguistic methodologies. He specializes in lexical variation, language contact phenomena, and the digitization of linguistic atlases. Key projects include the digital edition of the Atlas Lingüístico de la Península Ibérica and quantitative analyses of Galician dialectometry.
