JIANG Liguang

JIANG Liguang is an Assistant Professor in the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He received his MSc from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014, and his PhD in Remote Sensing & Hydrology from the Technical University of Denmark in 2018. Prior to joining SUSTech in March 2021, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Technical University of Denmark.

Dr. Jiang's research spans both remote sensing and hydrological sciences, with a focus on satellite altimetry applications for inland water monitoring and modeling. His work investigates the hydrological dynamics of surface water bodies such as lakes, reservoirs, and rivers in the context of climate change. He has made significant contributions to hydrodynamic modeling using distributed altimetry-derived Water Surface Elevation data, broadening the applications of satellite altimetry in hydrology.

His recent publications reveal a strong focus on advancing satellite altimetry techniques for river and lake monitoring, with particular emphasis on Sentinel-3, CryoSat-2, and SWOT missions. His research integrates machine learning approaches with traditional hydrological modeling, demonstrating innovative methods for streamflow prediction and water resource assessment. The interdisciplinary nature of his work connects remote sensing technology with practical water management applications.

His funded research projects include significant work with international organizations such as the European Space Agency, NASA/CNES, and Danish research agencies, demonstrating strong international collaboration in his field.
