J.M.J. Schutten is an Associate Professor at the University of Twente, affiliated with the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences and the Industrial Engineering & Business Information Systems department. He also serves as the Programme Director for the Industrial Engineering and Management bachelor's and master's programmes.

Research Interests: Schutten focuses on planning and scheduling in transportation, project, and production environments. His work emphasizes synchromodal freight transportation, urban logistics, and crowd-based transportation. His expertise spans Computer Science (algorithms, heuristics, vehicle routing, dynamic programming models) and Social Sciences (time economics, econometrics, finance, and organizational cost analysis).
