Dr. J.C. Winnips is the Technology Enhanced Learning Coordinator at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), University of Groningen. He holds a Ph.D. in 'Scaffolding-by-Design: A Model for WWW-Based Learner Support' from the University of Twente (2000). His roles include advising on ICT and education, coordinating learning environments, and leading innovation projects. He has extensive experience in educational technology, including active learning strategies, flipped classrooms, and social annotation tools like Perusall. Notable projects include scaling peer feedback systems (PeerCeptiv) and developing the FEBcon Educators Platform.
His research focuses on learning analytics, student engagement, and educational innovation. He has authored/co-authored studies on self-regulated learning, collaborative pedagogies, and the impact of technology on academic performance. Winnips has received the RUG CIT Data Science Award (2019) for contributions to educational technology. He actively participates in professional networks, such as the Education and Innovation Network Groningen (ONING), which he founded and chaired from 2013–2017.
