Dr. Ippoliti's research program centers on organic synthesis across four key domains: developing novel oxazolidinone antibiotics targeting penicillin-resistant bacteria and tuberculosis; synthesizing heterocyclic molecules for zeolites and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) used in catalysis, fuel storage, and CO₂ capture; creating fluorescent molecules and upconverting nanoparticles for security taggants; and designing thermochromic/photochromic materials that reversibly change color with temperature or light exposure. His work bridges molecular design with practical applications in healthcare, environmental sustainability, and security technology.

He actively mentors students in his research group, inviting new participants to join these projects. Though not teaching in Summer or Fall 2025, he maintains laboratory operations focused on synthetic organic chemistry.
