Izak Benbasat is the Sauder Distinguished Professor of Information Systems and Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia's Sauder School of Business. His research focuses on human-computer interfaces, especially in e-commerce, trust in AI systems, and IT competencies. He holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota and honorary doctorates from Université de Montréal (2009). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a Member of the Order of Canada (C.M.).
Benbasat's research interests include designing user-friendly web interfaces, enhancing system transparency in recommendation agents, and measuring IT-related competencies. He has explored topics such as privacy in mobile apps, algorithm aversion, and the impact of envy on social media behavior.
