Iyun Ashani Harrison is Associate Professor of the Practice of Dance at Duke University and Executive Director of Ballet Ashani. A Juilliard-trained dancer and choreographer, his work amplifies underrepresented voices in ballet through inclusive practices.
His creative research explores neoclassical traditions while addressing race and gender identity. Recent works include 'Dance of the Olympiad' (2024) and a ballet adaptation of James Baldwin's 'Giovanni's Room'.
Publications: Co-edited 'Antiracism in Ballet Teaching', establishing frameworks for equitable dance education. His choreography has been featured at the American Dance Festival and international venues.
Teaching: Develops curriculum integrating professional practice through master classes and collaborative projects.
