Ivy Hamerly is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science and Director of International Studies at Baylor University. She holds a PhD from the University of California, San Diego, with prior roles including Associate Director of International Studies (2010–2014) and Assistant Professor (2007–2010). Her research focuses on domestic and international institutions, legislatures in Western Europe, and climate change adaptation in democracies. She has published in journals like Journal of Church and State and co-authored works on political science education.
Her teaching spans Comparative Politics, European Union Politics, and International Organizations. Awards include the Elizabeth Vardaman Award (2021) for mentoring and recognition as an exemplary educator. She advises undergraduate research on topics like immigration, authoritarian regimes, and EU governance, supervising over 20 theses. She has grants totaling $25,000 for transdisciplinary research on urbanization and food security.
