معرفی
Dr. Ivo van Stokkum is an Associate Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Faculty of Science's Department of Biophysics and the LaserLaB - Energy research group. His work focuses on biophysical mechanisms underlying photosynthesis, energy transfer in light-harvesting systems, and molecular dynamics of photosynthetic proteins.
Research Interests: His studies explore energy transfer dynamics in photosynthetic organisms, carotenoid biochemistry, and the structural-functional relationships of light-harvesting complexes. Key areas include photoprotection mechanisms in cyanobacteria, excited-state dynamics of pigments, and advanced spectroscopic techniques like femtosecond Raman and transient absorption spectroscopy.
Publications: His recent work highlights energy regulation in phycobilisomes, structural dynamics of the orange carotenoid protein, and development of computational tools like pyglotaran for global analysis of spectroscopic data. These studies contribute to understanding photosynthetic efficiency and energy dissipation under stress conditions.
Advising & Grants: As Principal Investigator of the BSC Cluster 2.4 Thylakoid Membrane project (2010–2016), he has supervised four PhD theses. Courses taught include 'Photosynthesis and Energy' and 'Parameter Estimation in Medical and Biological Sciences.'
Labs/Teams: Active in LaserLaB - Energy, collaborating internationally on projects involving cyanobacteria, microbial rhodopsins, and synthetic light-harvesting systems.
