Ivo Alxneit

Ivo Alxneit is a Senior Scientist at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland, working within the Center for Energy and Environmental Sciences, specifically in the Applied Catalysis and Spectroscopy group since 2016. Previously, he worked at the Laboratory for Solar Technology (2004-2015) and the Solar Chemistry and Physics group (1994-2004) at PSI. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bern (1992).

Dr. Alxneit's research spans solar energy conversion, catalysis, and materials science, with particular expertise in thermochemical processes for solar fuel production, CO₂ conversion, and high-temperature materials characterization. His work bridges fundamental science with practical applications for sustainable energy technologies.

His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on advanced characterization techniques, including operando spectroscopy, electron microscopy analysis, and novel measurement methods for high-temperature processes. The research trend shows increasing emphasis on CO₂ conversion technologies, catalyst development for emission control, and fundamental understanding of materials behavior under extreme conditions.

Dr. Alxneit is actively involved in several professional societies including the Swiss Society for Optics and Microscopy (SSOM), Swiss Chemical Society (SCS), and European Photochemistry Association (EPA). He also serves as the Representative for ENE in PSI's Electron Microscopy Facility (EMF).
