Essyllt Louarn

Essyllt Louarn is a Researcher on delegation at the Catalysis and Atmospheric Reactivity for the Environment (CARE) team within Ircelyon research institute, affiliated with Claude Bernard University Lyon 1. Her work focuses on atmospheric chemistry and catalytic processes for environmental sustainability, addressing critical challenges in pollution control and energy transition through integrated experimental approaches.

Her research expertise spans:

• Atmospheric Chemistry including nocturnal oxidation mechanisms and cloud formation processes
• Heterogeneous Catalysis for energy transition (CO₂/CH₄ conversion, biomass valorization, sustainable fuel production)
• Pollution control systems for air/water remediation and pollutant recovery
• Advanced in situ/operando characterization (ESEM/ETEM microscopy, Raman/NMR spectroscopy, microcalorimetry)

Dr. Louarn actively contributes to scientific platforms including the IRCATECH characterization facility and Materials & Processes engineering group, developing methodologies from molecular modeling to reactor engineering. She participates in major initiatives like the VALOTHERBIO thematic school (October 2025) on thermochemical biomass valorization and the CATREN scientific network, demonstrating leadership in sustainable chemistry and environmental catalysis research.
