Ivette Perfecto is the Bunyan Bryant Collegiate Professor of Environmental Justice at the University of Michigan. Her work focuses on agroecology, examining biodiversity, agriculture, and food sovereignty, particularly in Latin America. She investigates ecosystem services in coffee agroecosystems and the impacts of agricultural practices on biodiversity. A member of the National Academy of Sciences and a Senior Fellow of the Ecological Society of America, her research bridges ecology, policy, and social justice.
Education: Honorary Doctorate from Universidad Sagrado Corazón (Puerto Rico), alma mater. Research locations include Mexico and Puerto Rico, with a lab emphasizing agroecology's role in sustaining biodiversity and food systems.
