Prof. Dr. Ivano Dionigi is a distinguished Italian academic and former Rector of the University of Bologna, a leading institution in European higher education. He has held professorial positions at several universities, including Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the University of Ravenna, and has been a central figure in advancing the Bologna Process, contributing significantly to the development of the European Higher Education Area.
His research spans Classical Philology, Latin and Greek literature, ancient philosophy (particularly Stoicism and Epicureanism), and the interplay between paganism and Christianity. He has increasingly focused on the interdisciplinary dialogue between humanities and exact sciences, advocating for a systematic integration of classical and modern scientific thought.
Prof. Dionigi has authored numerous scholarly publications and serves on the editorial boards of international academic journals. He is also actively involved in public life, having served on the Bologna City Council and as chairman of the Don Gaudiano Foundation.
