Andrej Kalaš

Professor Andrej Kalaš, PhD, is a faculty member at the Department of Philosophy and History of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, Comenius University. Specializing in Ancient Philosophy and Classical Philology, he has held academic positions at institutions including Charles University in Prague, Masaryk University in Brno, and the University of Cyprus in Nicosia.

• Education: Graduated in Philosophy-Latin and Classical Philology (Greek Language and Literature) at Comenius University, Bratislava; completed doctoral studies in Philosophy (2005) and habilitation in Philosophy (2010).

His research focuses on Socratic dialogues, Hellenistic philosophy (Stoicism, Epicureanism, Cynicism), and the intersection of cosmology, ethics, and epistemology in ancient thought. He has led projects like Vybrané problémy filozofie stoikov, skeptického akadémie a epikureizmu and Ad Fontes Cynicorum, examining the origins and interpretations of Cynicism.

Andrej Kalaš has received prestigious awards, including the Ján Hus Educational Foundation Scholarship (2006–2007) and the Literary Fund Prize for Translations (2007, 2008). His publications, spanning 2007–2021, include critical editions of Socratic fragments and studies on Pyrrhonian skepticism.
