Ivana Isgum

Ivana Isgum is a Full Professor at the University of Amsterdam, affiliated with the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Physics, as well as Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. Her research is centered on artificial intelligence (AI) in medical imaging, with a focus on cardiovascular disease and neuroimaging applications.

Her research explores the development of AI-driven methods for medical image analysis, enabling automated diagnosis, risk profiling, and prognosis. This spans both cardiovascular imaging (e.g., coronary CT angiography, optical coherence tomography) and neuroimaging (e.g., diffusion MRI for neurodegenerative disease prediction).

Recent publications highlight her work in cardiovascular imaging, including deformable geometric templates for 3D surface meshing in coronary CT, deep learning for full-vessel segmentation and plaque quantification in optical coherence tomography, and neuroimaging studies on brain age prediction as a biomarker for neurodegenerative diseases. These contributions align with the Digital Health research program.

She is a Principal Investigator at Amsterdam UMC and contributes to multidisciplinary collaborations across computational modeling, clinical cardiology, and neuroscience.
