Prof. Ivana Drobnjak is a Professor of Computational Healthcare and Director of the Undergraduate Program at the Department of Computer Science, University College London (UCL). Her research focuses on developing mathematical and computational methods for healthcare applications, including AI ethics, medical imaging, and digital health. She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford and has held academic positions at UCL and Oxford since 2007. She co-founded ETHERA Health, a remote patient monitoring platform, and is a member of UNESCO’s AI Chair, advocating for ethical AI and gender diversity in tech.
- Education:
- DPhil in Computational Modelling in Medical Imaging, University of Oxford (2007)
- MSc in Mathematical Modelling and Computation, University of Oxford (2001)
- BSc in Theoretical Mathematics and Applications, University of Belgrade (1999)
Research Interests: Prof. Drobnjak’s work spans computational healthcare, AI ethics, biomedical engineering, and medical imaging. She develops tools like FSL-POSSUM for MRI simulation and ETHERA’s remote patient monitoring systems. She emphasizes reducing AI bias, energy efficiency, and promoting women in tech, noting that only 22% of AI teams are female.
Her recent articles explore AI in remote monitoring, diffusion MRI advancements, and ethical AI challenges. She collaborates with UNESCO and industry partners to advance AI-driven healthcare solutions.
Grants & Labs: Leads the Microstructure Imaging Group and contributed to the iROC trial. Her lab develops tools like the MISST simulation toolbox and validates imaging techniques through physical/digital phantoms. She advocates for open datasets and robust artifact correction in MRI.
