Ivan Zaitsev is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Particle Physics and Astrophysics Space Physics Research Group. His work focuses on plasma processes in Earth’s magnetosphere, leveraging hybrid-Vlasov simulations to study phenomena like magnetic reconnection, current sheet instabilities, and solar wind interactions. He participates in projects such as FAISER (Fast AI-assisted Space Environment Prediction) and the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Research of Sustainable Space.
Key research interests include magnetospheric dynamics, ion kinetic simulations, and space weather modeling. Zaitsev has collaborated on studies of Pc2 waves, flux transfer events, and Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities. His contributions span 14 peer-reviewed articles between 2022-2025, emphasizing computational methods and observational analysis.
- Projects: FAISER (2024–2028), FORESAIL (2023–2025), and others funded by the Academy of Finland.
- Awards: None explicitly stated.
Zaitsev actively engages in public outreach, co-organizing events like the "Night of Science: Solar Storms and Us" in January 2024. He collaborates internationally with institutions specializing in space physics and plasma dynamics.
