Ivan Rodden

Ivan Rodden is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Christopher Newport University. His teaching focuses on creative writing disciplines including playwriting, fiction writing, and African American drama. He holds a Ph.D. and MA in English from the University of Illinois and a BA in Literature from Wheaton College.

His research explores performance theory, creative writing pedagogy, and cultural representation. Rodden's creative work as Ivan Faute has been produced internationally, with plays staged in New York, London, and Denmark. Notable works include The Dog Show, Lost Sock Laundry, and On Arriving, which address themes like identity, displacement, and familial conflict. He has received grants such as the Konvent Writing Residency and awards including the Chicago City Lit Art of Adaptation Festival win.
