Ivan Peñuelas Sanchez

Dr. Ivan Peñuelas Sanchez serves as Director of the Radiopharmacy Unit and PET-GMP laboratory at the University of Navarra Clinic while holding the position of Advanced Research Professor at the University of Navarra's Faculty of Pharmacy. A dual-certified Radiopharmacy specialist (Pharmacist and Biologist), he leads translational research in nuclear medicine with international recognition.

Research Focus: His work centers on radiopharmaceutical development for diagnostic/therapeutic applications, including gamma/beta/alpha-labeled compounds, PET radionuclide production, and blood cellular element labeling. As Principal Investigator of the RADIOMIN group, he bridges molecular imaging with clinical translation while addressing regulatory frameworks in radiopharmacy.

Advising & Funding: Secured over €6 million as PI of 19 competitive projects (European, FIS, regional) plus 8 industry contracts. Supervised 7 doctoral theses (3 in progress), 2 Master's theses, and numerous academic projects across 2,000+ teaching hours.

Labs & Leadership: Directs the University of Navarra Clinic's Radiopharmacy Unit and PET-GMP laboratory while serving as expert for the International Atomic Energy Agency. Leads technology transfer initiatives through Science Parks and RETOS Projects.
