Ivan Nikolic serves as an Assistant Professor and Senior Research Associate at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, specializing in Microorganism biology with office 807 at Studentski trg 16, Belgrade.
His academic qualifications include:
- Postdoctoral training (2019) at Max Planck Institute for Soil Microbiology, Marburg, Germany
- PhD in Microbiology (2018) from University of Belgrade focusing on Pseudomonas syringae pv. aptata
- Bachelor's degree in Ecology and Environmental Protection (2012) from University of Belgrade
Research focuses on microbial ecology, molecular microbiology, phytopathology, and biological control of plant pathogens. His work integrates molecular techniques with field applications for agricultural disease management, particularly targeting sugar beet and tomato pathogens through biocontrol strain development and pathogen surveillance systems.
Grant leadership includes bilateral projects: French collaboration on Clavibacter michiganensis surveillance (2023-2024), Slovenian partnership developing qPCR tests for Pseudomonas syringae (2023-2025), and earlier DNA marker development for Bacillus amyloliquefaciens monitoring (2020-2021).
