Cherednik's work has been revolutionary in several areas of mathematics. He's known for defining Double Affine Hecke Algebras (DAHA) and proving Macdonald's conjectures in q-combinatorics. His research has produced new theories of hypergeometric functions, DAHA invariants of algebraic knots and links, and new developments in the theory of Rogers-Ramanujan identities.
Recent publications show his continued research activity, with work in 2024 on R-matrix quantization of formal loop groups, superpolynomials of algebraic links, and connections between zeta-polynomials, superpolynomials, DAHA, and plane curve singularities. He has also applied his mathematical expertise to real-world problems, particularly in modeling the spread of the COVID-19 virus using Bessel functions and other mathematical approaches.
