Israel Nelken

Prof. Dr. Israel Nelken is a faculty member at the Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences (ELSC) at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He serves as the Director of ELSC, focusing on interdisciplinary research at the interface of cognitive, biological, and computational neuroscience. His work aims to advance innovative brain research through theoretical and experimental approaches.

ELSC promotes a thriving interface between theory and experimentation in brain sciences. As Director, Prof. Nelken oversees research initiatives, educational programs, and collaborations within this multidisciplinary framework.

The center houses 36 outstanding members, including Prof. Nelken, and offers graduate programs, postdoctoral fellowships, and summer internships. Research at ELSC spans MRI neuroimaging, microscopy, and computational modeling.
